Antifa is, as far as I know, the US abbreviation for Anti Fascist Action. This was an organization founded in the eighties in the UK with decentralized local chapters with the ability to mobilize. They were out in the streets violently confronting the fascists. It died out in the late nineties

Copy cat groupings had started appearing in other European countries by that time. In Sweden, we called them AFA. The antifa logo I’ve seen in US media is the logo of Anti Fascist Action. But that’s just my understanding.

I disagree. The US is ultimately responsible and should pay everyone else. The US has enabled Israel, its attack dog, to torture everyone in the region. Without the US, Israel would have had to adopt a different attitude towards its neighbors if it planned on surviving in West Asia.

You yourself seem to have a weird hard-on for bringing up Uighurs arbitrarily when it has zero to do with the subject of the post. Perhaps then you shouldn’t throw stones in your glass house and accuse others of waiting to arbitrarily pounce on the word “Xin Jiang”, when you obviously do the same thing for the word “China”.

Argue your point instead of automatically assuming everyone who doesn’t agree with you is a Chinese plant. That just makes you look whiny and weak, and brings no one around to your standpoint.

Is everyone really advocating for some substack CEO to start deplatforming people based on ideology? How quickly do you reckon that will be weaponized to deplatform any anti-zionist content? I’d take an ‘open for all’ framework over arbitrary deplatforming based on ideology every day of the week. Particularly considering the ‘new definition’ of anti-Semitism being adopted everywhere that equates most criticism of the state of Israel with anti-Semitism.

Mentioning Tiananmen Square, an example of internal repression with a couple of hundreds to a couple of thousands estimated fatalities, in the same sentence as two cases of near complete genocides of other ethnicities is wild. Do you not see how distorted that is as a comparison? In that comparison, you’re either trying to minimize the genocides of the Nazis, the Americans and the Turks, or raise the level of a case of internal repression with limited casualties to be comparable to massive historical crimes against humanity.
