Lol, ok chief.

Lol, ok chief.

There is something humorous to the fact that these users have waited until Firefox has begun the AI enshitification process before switching to it. It’s like they just had to wait until it was no longer the clear. Good choice before they made the switch.

Unfortunately, it seems the left never passed rifle-quals.

Never put all your peaches in one basket.

Why would you think a pastor would give pause? If you can get someone to believe in a magic space daddy, the shift to a magic land-based daddy should be trivial.

Wifi calling still routes the call through your carrier.
Or do you mean using voip services that operate independently of a carrier? The problem with those is that many services block voip numbers due to the rampant abuse by bots and scammers. As an example, I would not be able to sign up for my medical portal or any of my billing sevices as well as others(I tried to register with a voip number to protect the cell number I’ve used for decades).

The price of the Librem 5 ($800 with 3GB RAM) must have broken my brain
I think some of the big players like Librem and Pine tend to use zealot pricing, where they’re counting on those on the extreme end of linux and privacy to pay for the idea and disregard or simply disregard the substandard experience.
I do understand that not monetizing the user/customer costs more but outfits like FuriLabs shows that you can end up with more than a paperweight for less money.

The flx1s listed in the article is selling for $500. That seems fair to me. The more popular offerings in the article are definitely not giving sufficient value for my money.

It’s clearly a passion project but even his goal of it paying for itself is highly unlikely. More importantly, making sure those homebound, living in rural areas, using an android phone etc. are persona non-grata is just such a douchecanoe move. There’s a lot of ways he could have incentivized IRL contact without telling everyone not able to do that that or running an android phone that they’re not welcome on the platform.

We need to reassess our relationships between ourselves and our communities and nation.
I suspect that’s much harder to do if you are one of the people your nation is trying to kill, deport or enslave.

That’s why they’re so sycophantic.
At least in my experience, that behavior was easily squashed via the customization blurb in the settings. When I talk to my ai client, I don’t get accolades, pandering or attaboys. It just tells me if if thinks my idea will work(it often points out my failures in logic) or answers the question I ask in a conversational tone. Since it provides links to all sources used in the answer, it’s easy for me to read up on what it used and decide if it’s a solid foundation of info.
The rest of your reply to my comment doesn’t really require a response from me since I never said it was the solution. I merely pointed out why some people are grasping at that particular straw.

Could you expand on your thoughts? Are you speaking of the people using ai as a therapist or confidant? I wouldn’t but, at least in the US, younger people have been priced out of professional care.
Aside from that, many have ended up in a hostile country so casual smalltalk with randos has become much less appealing.
I can see the appeal of eschewing society as a whole in favor of a bot that I know won’t ask me my political or religious leanings and then tailor their behavior around my answer.

Been doing it for years. You can poop and pee anywhere at any speed already.

Who are you hanging around with that is mocking the people that named Mars?

There’s a reason and the reason will likely be revealed to be kickbacks and payoffs.

This sounds like an argument that an incel would make. You’re supposed to be intelligent enough not to be swayed by the presence of tits.

The attempt to compare the capability of psychological manipulation between AI and squished boobs is absolutely comical.

Of course they do. That was literally my point. Musk didn’t bother to hide it so we don’t need new studies to show that’s how they operate.

Absolutely nobody needed a new study to show the risks. We all saw what could happen as Musk altered Grok to behave in manners that he approved of.
I absolutely love that the tyrannical bullying by the US is going to result in a globally-visible solar win.
That being said, now I worry that this administration will simply bomb them from existence to keep it from happening.
