Didn’t sublinks stall because he had a baby? I remember reading something about it and the plan always being to come back to developing it.
Edit: looks like it stalled for other reasons as well https://discuss.online/post/39386407
jgrims stepped back from daily admin duties of his instance (discuss.online) to more fully focus on developing the software. I imagine we won’t hear as much about it now that PieFed (+ even its fork PyLova) are on the scene, being a fully featured, fully functional platform, which raises the bar to compare against.
SubLinks was originally written in Java (which is why it caught my interest) and in the link he says that he wants to move to Python. Perhaps I will revisit SubLinks in ~10 years when I have more free time.
The bigger changes involve the switching to a microservices architecture. He might do better at that point to integrate with other projects - PieFed/PyLova, Lemmy, Mbin, nodeBB, etc. - rather than build a new competitor to all of them, but that’s my thousand mile away view and maybe that is simply impossible or at least really difficult.

I wonder if that will lose a lot of contributors.
