I really have much more trouble parsing the different colored text than should technically be the case.

      Nuclear war attack

      Millions of lives system error

      Correctly identified

      Missile launch.

Who is making these? This is like me in university reading a text and highlighting every second word because “THATS the important part!!”. I only use one highlighter color though…

It’s a great example proving that CONTRAST is what you use to make certain words more important. For example, if all the text on that black background were in light gray or light blue or light any color, you could emphasize the important words by making them pure white.

I laugh whenever I see mostly black text headlines on white backgrounds with certain words in red (therefore having less contrast than black), as those words become less noticeable, not more so.

        on YouTube

I hadn’t used YouTube for like six years but recently got back into it a little bit in an Apple TV, and god damn is there a lot of slop in the thumbnails (videos too!).

Is that what corporate social media looks like in general these days? I’ve been running ad blockers for years too so maybe this is just everywhere and I haven’t noticed.

It’s also like 99% Shorts nowadays. Just keep coking up that media-induced Attention Deficit Disorder. People’s attention spans are not quite short enough yet. Like when you start a video and IMMEDIATELY a banner comes up and covers half the screen and says HEY CLICK HERE TO WATCH THIS OTHER VIDEO! Click Click click clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick have some caffeine too.

Good thing I never bother with YouTube’s feed. I use a downloader to grab subscribed new videos and that’s that. They dug their own graves.

If you don’t like it, mark it with “I don’t like this video” or block slop channels from your feed. The problem with being the largest video platform is that the default view has a ton of lowest-common denominator bullshit on it.

Yeah this guy is probably definitively the biggest hero of mankind’s history. Who else saw annihilation coming and stopped it? Arguably other people would’ve done the same but this dude is the one who did it.

In an interview for the film The Man Who Saved the World, Petrov says, “All that happened didn’t matter to me—it was my job. I was simply doing my job, and I was the right person at the right time, that’s all. My late wife for 10 years knew nothing about it. ‘So what did you do?’ she asked me. ‘Nothing. I did nothing.’”

Most, but the number of people growing up to be sociopaths or psychopaths is sadly increasing. Thanks to corporate social media and smart phones and capitalism.

If there’s anything to the quantum immortality idea, a nuclear exchange might be impossible. We’re here right now because we aren’t here in the timelines where someone launched in response to 99 red balloons floating in the summer sky.

He realised it was a system glitch, because it only detected a singular US nuclear missile.

He realised the US would never ever (intentionally) launch a nuclear attack on russia that was just a single missile. MAD meant they would either launch an all out devastating attack to eradicate everything, or launch no nukes at all. Anything in between those two made no tactical sense whatsoever, and, at least back then, the US millitary wasn’t run by complete morons.

(Also, in this case the risk of not responding is relatively low. A single missile, even if real, is relatively easy to intercept, and even when aimed at the capital, is not got going to take out the entire command structure and launch capabilities, so even if it turns out the attack was real, Russia would still be able to retaliate after it’s conclusion, which would not be the case with an all out attack)

The colours make me dubious, but I’m just unsure how the bloke’s name is supposed to be spelled? Stanislva seems strange.
