many of his most reckless efforts in his first administration were stymied only because of others in his administration who blocked, delayed or watered down his aims to ensure that he could not put himself above the law or the country.
I often wonder what would have happened if his first term was unleashed. Eg if McCain voted yes to dismantle ACA. If Trump got his way the first time, would he have gotten in the second?
If Trump had gotten his way the first time, we’d be in a fascist dictatorship that is 9 years old now instead of one.
Prosecute his enemies is maybe a bit much. But the rest is uncanny.
You didn’t even bother to google it dude, that’s honestly really disappointing…
you’re joking right?
But but Kamala didn’t say Palestine! /S
When the trash humans are saying they will do this and that. When they publish it. Its not a prediction.
Its hard to call it a prediction when he literally just said it himself

The current stance of the president of the Heritage Foundation seems to be that if the left does not take up arms, MAGA will take over everything, permanently.
Our current situation really is the culmination of almost 70 years of rightwing efforts. It’s a long listen but worth checking out How Conservatism Won by Robert Evans. He lays out in a clear concise way “how a consortium of rich failsons got together to fund a network of right wing think tanks and shift American culture in a fun new direction. (note: it was not actually fun at all).” They’ve been very successful and those think tanks are now pipelines used to funnel ideological purists into powerful positions like our current Supreme Court.
The shadowy cabals the rightwing says are behind everything is classic projection again, they’re controlled by shadowy cabals of rich people. One of the primary ghouls/traitors responsible for the attempted overthrow of our government on J6 was Roger Stone, the same traitorous ratfucker who began his career working for Nixon and has a fucking Nixon tattoo on his back. It’s really impossible to overstate how bad these people are and they’re winning.
The coup was successful, they’re in power and if they don’t want to give it up they won’t.

I can see the URL, I know it’s the NY Times … but it feels like it could just as well be a link to the Book of Revelation. Fuck this timeline sucks
fuck the NYT they have repeatedly failed to do their jobs
I wait for putin, trump and all geriatric rulers to die already
Evil never dies, it must be killed
evil never dies unless we make it
Is Vance any better?
For couch makers and furniture retailers, yes!
He at least doesn’t have a cult following
King Trump II
But he’s vile, and not a blabbering moron
Lowkey disagree on the last part, he just seems smart in comparison to the guy he’s been next to
Oh god NYT slop
The people who needed to be convinced think the New York Times is globalist propaganda. If they even noticed the existence of this article they would assume it was a made up smear campaign against Dear Leader.
Also, our media (even the “liberal media”) is part of the problem. For example, they did such a terrible job explaining Trump’s attempts to steal the 2020 election that to this day even many anti-Trump Americans don’t understand how fucked up it was.
The primary blame is on the sociopaths in charge and the troglodytes who voted them in, but there is plenty of guilt to go around.
My folks didn’t even know the fake elector story until Liz Cheney’s book came out. That was Dec 2023
60 Minutes didn’t cover fake electors until Feb 2024.
Like it or not, this is likely on par with the experience of tens of millions of American voters.
Totally agreed, media failed to present the full scope of the conspiracy and did it way too fucking late.
I worked in news media in the Bush years and I got to see first hand how our national news promoted the lies coming from the Bush administration and helping spearhead support for an Iraq invasion.
The media has been a problem for a long time.
Iraq II - Shock and Awe was definitely a huge part of my political awakening. I’m still saddened (but no longer amazed) that more people didn’t figure it out at the time, and that so many still haven’t figured it out.
People still think the NYT is some left leaning (or even “far left” in some circles) source. It’s fucking absurd.
The pride I never had, the nationality that I never felt
Saddam was bad, and the American’s even more so
They made me grow like i was missing part of my torso
But I never picked up a grenade in my garden
I never saw people I love die starving
I never saw my family die through many years of sanctions
While the rulers family lived in palaces and mansions
Never had a family member kidnapped for a ransom
I never lost a friend to violence that was random
Bombings, occupation, torture, intimidation
A million dead people doesn’t equal liberation
I’m still pretty pissed off about that. It’s when I learned that a huge number of my fellow citizens are really stupid. Covid was when I learned that they’re also hateful pieces of shit.
Freedom fries, you guys. Woohoo.
NYT endorsed Iraq invasion even though there was no evidence of WMDs and the rest of the world was against it. Surprise, no WMDs were found.
Interestingly, some companies did steal billions upon billions of dollars and we blew the national debt up. Strange that outcome …
NYT also sat on the story about NSA wiretapping US citizens for over a year at the behest of the Bush admin. Later, DNI Clapper would deny that spying on Americans happened “wittingly,” a denial which would push Edward Snowden to leak information thst proved otherwise.
The NYT also sat on the story of Trump having Maduro kidnapped. They (along with WaPo) were informed of the operation 24 hours before it happened.
Absolutely, but I think right now it’s important to be able to show that this behavior goes back decades and isn’t some new phenomenon that so many people act as though it is.
The NSA story they sat on was in 2007 when they published it, so literally has been 20 years this year.
It goes back way before that too. During WWII they were firmly against the US entering the war and also against allowing Jewish refugees into the country.
if the average voting american knew how to read they would be very upset!
I don’t recall the media covering the fake electors of the Jan 6 coup hardly at all. The media loved to cover the big violent crowd becaus it was flashy. However, the fake elector scheme was the more significant crisis in my mind. That showed a planned and coordinated effort by people in power to subvert democracy.
I don’t recall the media covering the fake electors of the Jan 6 coup hardly at all
You probably don’t recall because you aren’t paying attention.
It was indeed covered:

I think this is getting to the core of how Trump has been so successful. Every important story is drowned out by an endless flood of shit. Good journalism still exists, but it has gotten almost impossible to find as news channels rush to cover the latest distraction Trump is up to. The real stories drown in the bullshit.
Long story short I think it’s possible to pay attention and nevertheless miss out on important stories, due to the fundamental flaws of the information ecosystem. It’s really only necessary to write one story about something like this, but whatever Trump is up to gets a new story every hour.
Precisely.
No, the people who needed to be convinced were the on-the-fence independents who stupidly thought they’d get a better economy under “Trump the successful businessman” than Kamala “Joe Biden 2.0 Harris.” They’re the ones who dismissed Trump’s stated plans as bluster; the people you’re talking about knew he wasn’t joking and were counting on it.
The biggest lie of them all is the “Liberal” in liberal media
All American media is essentially fascist, they’ve proven this beyond a doubt
If there were even a HINT of an ALLEGATION that Biden or Obama were party to INFANTICIDE they would have burned DC to the ground. Now all the US media outlets are just participating in the damage control operation
All American media is essentially fascist
This is absolute horseshit.
It’s an exaggeration at least, but it’s true that the regime friendly billionaire class has a lot of influence over some extremely popular media channels. The firings and changes made in Washington Post and more recently CBS are interesting case studies.
And of course many newsrooms make questionable decisions even if they are not fascist. I have little to no respect left for the New York Times, but I still believe they’re independent enough and have enough talented staff to produce important journalism.
ProPublica is the bees knees.
Lol no it isn’t. The United States, all the people there, all the politicians and the culture are 100% pure settler colonial and fascist. You are the bad guys.

I’m not a subscriber and I could see the whole article
The people who needed to be convinced think the New York Times is globalist propaganda. If they even noticed the existence of this article they would assume it was a made up smear campaign against Dear Leader.
Hey now, some of them could have not read it because of a paywall at the time too.
Sorry, I combined two comments into one and your reply got orphaned
The only thing I’m aware of which was predicted by anyone which he hasn’t done or tried to do is launch nukes at North Korea. Which he has threatened that. I think he’s enough of a psychopath that he is not above launching nukes if he ever finds himself in the position Hitler did. I mean why wouldn’t he? He’s shown us thousands and thousands of times that he cares about a singular person and that is himself.
But yeah, every fucking concern we had has been validated and then some. And these fucking zombies don’t care because they somehow can pretend he does nothing wrong, literally no matter what.
Never has there been a more disappointing time to have a working brain. All of this would’ve made way more sense before everyone could instantly check facts any time they wanted. Yet somehow, that ability made people less informed. I get that propaganda works and all, but I still will never understand how people could remain so adamantly ignorant when it’s genuinely so easy to learn and to stop being ignorant. I could even understand a world where people hate Trump’s specific actions but support a lot of the things he does. Would still be disappointing but it would make sense. Instead we live in a world where he can do anything and be loved for it no matter how heinous.
Donald Trump was a lot of peoples’ fault. One article nailing him doesn’t cancel out all the articles that normalized or sane washed him, or ran with his narrative. Nor does it undercut all the well-justified mistrust of legacy American media. It’s not as if people started trusting pundits out of nowhere - they started looking for commentary and news from alternate sources because yeah, actually, legacy media does work for the wealthy. Not that MAGA pundits don’t, but that’s beside the point.
