In February, Muñoz and Bartell traveled to Puerto Rico to finally take their honeymoon, and upon returning to the U.S. mainland, immigration agents stopped Muñoz and asked whether she was an American citizen. When she explained that she wasn’t but was in the process of obtaining a green card, they detained her.
They left the country without her having a green card at the moment? Am I reading this right? How would you think that is a wise idea?

Because she’s Peruvian. She got arrested while returning to the US mainland from a US territory, which they might have thought wouldn’t have them encountering ICE agents.
