its a good thing, so we have a little party
Until you get older, and there is no workforce that pays for your medical bills that increase with age, your pension or just no people to staff hospitals and age care facilities.
Guess that’s what it looks like when capitalism eats itself
Yes because China 1 child policy could never have such an effect.
Russia too has extremely low fertility rate too, (also before the war) Of around 1.4, where the necessary number to sustain the population is 2.1.ALL developed countries have this problem.
So please come again and explain more clearly what it is you actually mean by the above moronic comment.
Is it that truly communist/socialist countries remain poor with short lifespans, and thereby maintain their fertility rate?Because there is no capitalism in Russia or China? Last time I checked they are very much capitalist countries since more than 40 years now. And the one child policy is basically abolished in China, which no real effect on the low number of children born.
So what is this amazing society that is better?
To my mind, it is one we could build together, through collaboration and solidarity perhaps
Oh you mean like a democracy?
You seem to confuse democracy with capitalism 🤦
No capitalism is about free markets, democracy is a form of governance.
When China introduced their 1 child policy they did not have free markets, and Russia didn’t have free markets for 100 years. And neither of those countries are doing any better regarding fertility rate than many traditional capitalist countries.
We start using less resources?
When old people die from natural causes it’s okay …
Nah, boomers can die of unnatural causes too and that’s also okay… Get some wealth distribution in this capitalism…
Help - my serfs are not procreating …
👌🏻 peak and on point
You get smaller classroom sizes and people get better educations.
Also less pollution.
Haha, no. They save some money on teacher’s positions and class sizes stay the same.
Adaption or having a functional immigration system?
Hopefully it means change.
Universal basic income and a 4 day work week would be a good start.
There is more than enough wealth and automation going around for this to be workable these days.
I hope so.
There’s more resources to go around, less damage to the planet.
And billionaires make less money (relatively).
