All but the rain protector for shoes. How does it attach? Why doesn’t it protect the back of the shoes? And if you step in a puddle, and it splashes, it splashes the inside of the umbrella and gets your feet more wet.

And then brush with the finger-attached toothbrush. You’re basically a native Japanese inventor at that point!

This are great and also hilarious. They are just slightly more cringy that some of the junk they used to sell on late night “as seen on TV” ads.

That part of the title where it says “that many secretly need” is just misleading. Only a couple of the inventions would even have the slightest possibility of ever being used.

The only people who would need those inventions are people who collect useless inventions.

As a kid I had a book that showcased a ton of these. It brought me endless entertainment. Not in a “that’s so stupid”, derisive way, because a lot of the ideas didn’t take themselves too seriously it seemed. I saw it as “laughing with, not at”. I had an odd sense of humor as a child:

The only things that look kind of useful are the funnel glasses, the back scratch shirt, and a couple of the umbrellas but mostly the full-cover one.

The back scratch shirt is kinda cool because I assume the itchest spots will fade faster so you’ll have a heatmap of where your back gets itchest the most
