  • it’s quite obvious to everyone, including the press and citizens, that the current implementation is not sustainable long-term.

No, that’s just the neolibaral capitalist propaganda talking. The actual unsustainable part are the less than 1% sucking up most of the money while the remaining fraction is supposed to sustain social, health and pension system from their stagnating wages.

It’s actually very easy to look up facts and numbers. The rate between people working and people sustained by them has basically not changed in nearly a century. Sure, children/pensioneer rate changed but that isn’t actually a problem as long as the general rate keeps steady. And as long as the workers don’t suddenly become much less productive of course.

Funnily the systems worked in the 1950s, in the 1970s, in the 1990s… and then with -as mentioned- roughly the same amount of workers in the total population AND a massively increasing productivity (GDP per capita increased to ~x2,5 in the last 50 years; naturally caused by the exact same progress that also raises life expectancy) it suddenly didn’t work anymore and we have to constantly increase the quota of wages workers have to spend on health and social costs. (And the same is true for taxes: how can countries that build infrastructure once fail to even sustain them nowadays?) So what actually changed?

The aswer is quite easy. Up until the 1990s (in Germany… but we see the same bullshit happening in other countries, sometimes a few years earlier, sometimes a bit later) wages and pensions kept in pace with the GDP. And then neoliberalists sold the fairy tale of privatisation and other means of not only funneling money to the top but also stopping to tax that money. And while wages stagnated the whole system was still linked those wages.

Seriously… production per capita is high as never before yet -magically- neither health, social and pension contributions based on those wages nor basic public functions based on taxes are sustainable anymore? If you seriously believe the constant propaganda of how you (or better those indolent youngsters) are just lazy and need to remember how to be productive, how <insert whoever is in the government right now) is just wasting money for nonsense, and -most importantly!- how we only need to get rid of all those lazy immigrants exploiting us, I have this really fancy bridge here that…

No, “they” are not alone because those “Europeans” discussed here are not on Europe’s side but exclusively their own.

Just like the <1% everywhere else they will simply throw the population under the bus to be on the authoritarians good side as one of them.

Are we -the European populations- alone? Yes, very much so. But that’s okay because propaganda-induced brain-damage is for a long time preventing us from even recognizing reality. So we will happily keep voting people into power that are only there to enrich themselves and their buddies while blaming imaginary scape goats… immigrants in most cases still, then LGBTQ+ -as we can see in those countries without relevant immigration already-, probably followed by everyone with another political opinion (if history is any indication), then intellectuals in general because people still thinking on their own -even if they keep quiet- are a risk. And once we reached the “random people have to be the scape goat today”-stage they will all cry out and ask how it could have come that far.

No, you don’t have lost track. You are simply reading actual articles and propaganda.

This -for example- is the latter. No, that decision is not the EU backing away from chat control but quite the opposite. They have build the foundation for creating mass surveilance infrastructure without the courts shutting them down as usual because it’s voluntary. Up to the moment there is a reasonable big distraction or some neat pretext and it suddenly isn’t voluntary anymore and fully running just the next day.

  • In parts maybe because who is actually producing PULS with KNDS only being more of a local distribution partner. It’s Israel’s Elbit Systems.

So that “German” system is in reality an Israeli system (with French-German KNDS still looking for partnerships to produce compatible missiles).

And the “US” system is co-developed by German Rheinmetall (with Lockheed-Martin) and fully compatible to the upgraded M270s (called MARS II/LRU/MLRS-I respectively) which Germany, France and Italy already build themselves under license and also run their own targeting software (UK, too, minus the common software project). In fact GMRS is a truckbased solution with the full-sized 2x 6 launcher like on the M270, unlike HIMARS with halfed capactity.

So that German vs US system in the headline and article are kinda skewed…

  • We are so focused on shooting ourselves in the foot, legs and the critical organs, all so we can remain on the moral high ground.

Congratulations. You have eaten up the whole capitalist propaganda in one big gulp.

No, people are not doing it because some imaginary moral high ground. Guess what… there is an actual market for ethically sourced goods, one for organical produce and there is a constant demand for domestic high quality.

But that’s not what is politically supported because we need to make the insanely rich even richer in the name of holy capitalism. And that means subsidising the cheapest stuff with the lowest quality people will still accept to maximise profits of a few people. That means outsourcing production to China by heavily subsidising transport costs. That means selling off technology to China because its success is threatning other sector’s profits at home. It is not about the morals, ffs it’s not even about the actual costs. It is simply about getting the lowest cost for the people selling you shit here to increase their profits, all while socialising the (not even well) hidden extra costs involved.

The talk about morals and ethics is a lie you get fed to look away from actual facts.

Germany basically developed modern mass produced solar tech. A German company is market leader in wind power (#3 from Denmark, #5 Spain btw…). If you look up leading battery researchers or institutions involved you will not find a lot of Chinese names but European and US ones. We develop that stuff … and then we give the tech away to get produced elsewhere.

If you think this happens for some moral reasons you are just totally lost.

It happens because new tech threatens estabished businesses that then bribe politicians (see the destruction of 100k+ jobs in solar in Germany to save ~10k workers in coal for example) or because outsourcing opens up possibilities to offload costs to the population (like the mentioned rediculously subsidised transport costs supporting all that cheap crap Chinese mail-order business).

Or to keep with your analogy: We are not “shooting ourselves in the foot, legs and the critical organs”. A few people are doing this to us because they can then profit from be the faster ones.
