I assure you, the alternative to the fediverse is not polite society, not in my experience. Unlike other platforms one is allowed to be wrong here and getting corrected doesn’t trigger the fight, flight, freeze or fawn response.

The Norwegian royal family is not doing well. Norway’s crown princess was also mentioned in the recent Epstein files dump. Apparently she had been texting with Epstein personally for many years.

Could this combination of cases could lead to the end of the royal family in Norway?

Brilliant. As a Dane I recognize it as “bjørnetjeneste” (bear favor/service) and comes from this old fable: “The Bear and the Gardener”, but as Russia is often depicted as a bear in satirical cartoons, it works on another level as well.

That’s where old school forums still shine, the ability for mods to just move an entire thread to a more fitting subforum is so nice. That’s not even possible on R*dd*t.

I was struggling so hard to find the original post, finally found it over on aussie.zone and then I saw that it was a lemmy.world post, an instance I’ve blocked on my local instance, feddit.dk. Stuff like that is what makes lemmy a bit confusing haha

Lemmy isn’t too hard, it’s just annoying at times. Like when your instance hasn’t downloaded the content of a given community and it just looks empty until you subscribe to it.

By total accident I found out that Digg is resurrecting, backed by Alexis Ohanian, a founder of Reddit (and husband of Serena Williams), and Kevin Rose, who originally founded Digg.
Maybe all the former Digg refugees that fled to Reddit will go right back to Digg… Continue the cycle.

Eh. Doesn’t seem too bad, but then again, I haven’t made an account there because of it not really being decentralized enough for my taste.
Seems kinda dumb to go from one centralized service like X to another. Bluesky’s claims of being decentralized are highly exaggerated.
