Maybe tuesday due to easter.
Born 1983, He/him, Danish AuDD introvert that’s surfed the internet since he was a teen (1996 onwards).
Maybe tuesday due to easter.

Now we just need to keep the fish alive.

I assure you, the alternative to the fediverse is not polite society, not in my experience. Unlike other platforms one is allowed to be wrong here and getting corrected doesn’t trigger the fight, flight, freeze or fawn response.

Thanks for the update. Wow. As a Dane I’m not that surprised, I think a lot had to happen here as well for people to want to get rid of the royal family.
Also, happy cake day :) Lykke til

If you get billionaires like Musk and Pavel Durov to whine on social media you’re doing something right.

That has so far worked out for the Danish King who married an Australian commoner, and from Tasmania nonetheless.

The Norwegian royal family is not doing well. Norway’s crown princess was also mentioned in the recent Epstein files dump. Apparently she had been texting with Epstein personally for many years.
Could this combination of cases could lead to the end of the royal family in Norway?

Punched in the population numbers by hand from wikipedia, so there might be errors, but I think it’s correct:

I’d love it if we could ask those vulnerable people what they think about this video instead of us pretending to know what they feel or be offended on their behalf. If only we could do that, ask them how they feel about Greenland, it’s probably first on their mind when they wake up in their cardboard box on the curb.

So you wouldn’t say that a society should be judged on how it treats its most vulnerable members?
Also, if the threat of invasion isn’t enough to warrant a clapback, what the heck is?

The UK are great at creating jobs, huh?
The Netherlands employed more than 900 customs officials and an additional 145 veterinarians for the port of Rotterdam, while Spain hired an additional 860 employees for airports, ports and border control.

Yeah, I noticed in the “Idioms” part of the article I linked, and I’m not surprised, us Danes probably got it from German to begin with.

BJÖRNTJÄNST
Brilliant. As a Dane I recognize it as “bjørnetjeneste” (bear favor/service) and comes from this old fable: “The Bear and the Gardener”, but as Russia is often depicted as a bear in satirical cartoons, it works on another level as well.
That’s where old school forums still shine, the ability for mods to just move an entire thread to a more fitting subforum is so nice. That’s not even possible on R*dd*t.
Lemmy isn’t too hard, it’s just annoying at times. Like when your instance hasn’t downloaded the content of a given community and it just looks empty until you subscribe to it.

By total accident I found out that Digg is resurrecting, backed by Alexis Ohanian, a founder of Reddit (and husband of Serena Williams), and Kevin Rose, who originally founded Digg.
Maybe all the former Digg refugees that fled to Reddit will go right back to Digg… Continue the cycle.

Eh. Doesn’t seem too bad, but then again, I haven’t made an account there because of it not really being decentralized enough for my taste.
Seems kinda dumb to go from one centralized service like X to another. Bluesky’s claims of being decentralized are highly exaggerated.
Didn’t US soldiers stationed in Germany have to use German food banks in order to even eat a few months back?
