The liberal American’s identity is tied to the success of the American project so they must believe, with all their heart, that it’s not just another imperialist colonial white supremacist construct where democracy is a sham and a ritual of prole appeasement, and they will hate you for trying to wake them up. If he represented any sort of real change, a structural one, he would’ve never had a platform.
