Flight instructors jump out of planes to their deaths all the time? I hope you’ll forgive my request for some citations.
I mean usually the instructor just gets out the plane while on the ground and tells you to go round again. I’m not sure what was going on with this one but they at least seemed to think their student was ready given the words “you know what to do”.
I’ve taken flight lessons and have taken off and landed the plane, but not once did my instructor jump out and fall to his death.
Yeah, that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.
That is a super fucked up situation, inaccurate headline notwithstanding. “Student pilot forced to land plane alone” is not news- that literally describes basic flight training. But it makes a better headline apparently than “licensed pilot safely returns to airport after instructor jumps out during training flight.”

Was it really so hard to find a photo of a Cessna for the photo? Because, while the P-51 mustang is a beautiful plane, it’s nothing like the actual aircraft.
