    “The department will not speculate regarding the intent behind those searches,” the police department said in an official statement. “However, searches of this nature are subject to strict scrutiny and were determined to have been conducted without a legitimate law-enforcement purpose, thereby constituting a violation of department policy.”

    Imagine what the motivation behind these searches were in order to get fired. Police in the U.S. can shoot people in the face unprovoked and get administrative leave with pay. Possibly promoted depending on skin color. Happy to see police violating policy getting consequences nonetheless.
