Is the us really trying to start a war against Europe? I don’t get why.
The 99% of voters here in the US that always vote Democrat and Republican, in 2024, decided that a functioning brain is no longer mandatory for leading the US and having control of our nuclear arsenal and the unfortunate result is we are led by a publicly and evidently demented old man.
It’s also why the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs can tell Donald, to his face, that a war with Iran would be disaster and he decides to start bombing anyway.
Death rattle of an empire
God complex
Trump can only accept European countries as vassal states. Migration is for the EU a weak spot he’s willing to exploit. Anybody warning this can end badly and backfire is fired or primaried so nobody stops him.
The US has never had a military defeat that hugely affected them and don’t fundamentally believe it’s possible. It’s simple hubris.

Morocco has it’s own reasons to do this. Were they encouraged? Maybe. Was is the main reason? Unlikely.
Morocco already tried this couple of years ago and got want it wanted. Spain capitulated and changed their stance on Western Sahara, agreeing that it will be controlled by Morocco. As part of the agreement Morocco started controlling its side of the border to help limit the flow of immigrants reaching Ceuta and Melilla. This move angered Algeria and spoiled their relations with Spain. Last month Spain tried to normalize those relations again and Sanchez visited Algeria for the first time in 4 years. What happened in Ceuta was Morocco showing that they are not happy about it and that they still have Spain by the balls there. IMHO it’s unlikely that US and Israel initiated this.
Anyway, the deal with Morocco was a terrible betrayal of his base and Sanchez is now reaping the rewards. He managed to normalize the situation for a couple of years but it was clear from the beginning this will not last and that it will explode in his face eventually. His government is doing good things on many fronts but they totally fucked up on that front. Hopefully they wills tart paying attention now. Or at least the next government will.
A rare case of Betteridge’s Law not applying.
This is not the US’ or Israel’s first act of hybrid war, by a long stretch. Maybe against Spain, but I’d be surprised if the US hadn’t meddled at all with Spain post Franco.
To be fair, this doesn’t sound like something Israel or the US would do as this time.
Sure, there are motives, but it seems way to subtle and sophisticated a plan to have come out of the White House. It it were the US, then Trump would’ve made a grand spectacle out of it and would’ve hinted at his own involvement.
And Israel has way better things to do than to pester Spain. Not to mention the risks if they were caught. Of uniting and agitating a Europe that is currently divided on their support for Israel.
So that leaves Morocco, who at least enabled -and probably instigated- the border run.
