In case you didn’t notice it during the Hilary Clinton vs Bernie Sanders primaries, the DNC has mechanisms like super-voters that allow them to override the will of voters.

If I remember it correctly they even went to Court to make the case (which they won) that the Democratic Party doesn’t need to actually be Democratic in their candidate selection process.
