Someone in an elevator with you, Etc. It’s definitely considered rude to bring up religion or politics with random people in casual small talk conversations. Typically the weather is a go-to topic for such situations if small talk is needed.
People in the USA discuss politics and religion all the time, even asking where you go to church and who got and will get your vote.
When I say Casual small talk conversations I mean with non-friend co workers. Cashier’s, barista. Someone in an elevator with you, Etc.
It’s definitely considered rude to bring up religion or politics with random people in casual small talk conversations.
Typically the weather is a go-to topic for such situations if small talk is needed.
