The 87-year-old whose eviction sparked a domestic crisis and triggered nationwide anti-government protests has died in hospital late on Wednesday. Protesters say they will continue to demonstrate to uphold her legacy.
I wonder how and if it will change votes. I am not from Spain, know only some basic Spanish. So if someone is from Spain and is more informed could you expand on the political climate? I understand that people are upset. Are they blaming prime minister’s party PSOE or those right wing parties (PP and VOX) that are on top or on the rise?
I am not sure if I read it correctly and probably it is far too soon to judge, but polls do not look good, looks like VOX and PP is rising and PSOE is falling.

The newest poll is from 7-8 October and I think gives VOX the biggest rise:

Right now every party is trying to take advantage of this and claiming the other side is reponsible of her death.
PSOE is cooked and it is very difficult for them to stay in power, everyone assumes it will be overpassed by PP+VOX but rhey are trying to use this case and the current climate to overturn their chances, still difficult thoug.
The landlord should be held liable, in court or outside of it if the courts refuse to honour their goddamned duty to the citizens. This is not ok.

Really? You couldn’t fit the country into the post?
Do you have any idea how large Spain is?*
You couldn’t fit the names of the inhabitants of a moderately sized Spanish TOWN into the post, let alone the entire country.
*roughly 1.24 times larger than California
Is Spain really that small? Mercator projection warped my sense of size.
God forbid you read the article instead of forming your opinion as quickly as possible and continuing scrolling
Yes, I have limited time on my hands. Also don’t feel like wasting it arguing with blockheads like you anymore…
Lmao
for me your comment seems unnecessary rude
Welcome to Lemmy. First time here?
Lol? It’s news, and someone misses the most important bit about the news (where) and puts in oddly specific info (name of a person), and you get offended on their behalf because I complain that vital information is missing from the post?
Hard downvote, man.
It would be good to make an effort not to be a jerk. It’s not what you said. It’s how you communicate.
Lol you complain about my tone and call me a jerk. What a muppet.
It’s not OP’s fault if you were living under a rock lately.
the most important bit about the news
That’s a bad take when someone died.
Wanting to understand where someone died is a bad take? Not the smartest answer…
It is when you explicitly say you don’t care about the who.
Except I don’t say that.
If her name isn’t as important as where it happened, to the point that you’re annoyed that the who was in the headline but not the where, then you are, in fact, saying that you don’t care about the who.
If you do care about the victim, you sure aren’t acting like it. Seems like your top priority here is your pride. Maybe take a deep breath and consider if this is really the hill you want to die on.
In Madrid btw.
