Can’t believe there are idiots that still deny climate change. Here in the MENA (Middle east + North africa, basically arab world) it’s been brutal, frequent droughts, dangerous air quality and insane levels of heat in summer (and average days too, but it’s only 33 celsius right now so not too bad). 1,300 people died last year in my city alone

But yeah… climate change is a hoax. 🙄

Yep. The signs are all around us, even in Northern Europe. Not so far north that melting glaciers are a thing, but shorter and warmer winters, earlier spring, burnt grass in summer (this has never been a thing in Finland), disruption of long-standing weather patterns…

Most “sensible” deniers nowadays claim it’s not human made. For them I always keep this xkcd handy.

And the most common sentiment about climate change right now among KTU civil engineer students is “oh stop shoving this climate bullshit down our throats” and it isn’t even exclusive to the fucking students.

Makes me mad listening to it.

I’ve gotten used to 30+ degree weathers, but i’m especially concerned for the coming summer/next years.

We had 2 snowfalls this winter here in Austria and summer regularly hits 30+ for multiple weeks. No snow = no melting water reservoir… Yet our people vote for a Partie that still calls it a hoax. We’re so fucked.

Uneducated on austrian politics; why are people voting for this party? Dunno who they are, but from your comment it sounds stupid to vote for them.

I guess it’s similar to the situation in Germany, though a few years further in the development.

Right wing populism, lack of political education, populist media outlets, centre politicians adopting right wing policies in an ill-fated attempt to get their voters back, a population generally dissatisfied with the establishment due to the consequences of neoliberalism, etc.

Jesus christ what the fuck. I live in a gulf state so i’m not as affected as much as algerians for example, but if this goes on the death toll is going to absolutely sky rocket.

Makes even less sense now that people think it’s fake…

No problemo - let’s us just ban reports on this while increasing fossil fuels consumption and eating more meat. There, problem solved.

Perhaps the denial is more widespread there because in the wealthy oil dictatorships there is no other industry, at all. The saudi dictator is trying to diversify but let’s not kid ourselves, the economy is still 95% oil
