In 2018, reports revealed that Steve Bannon met with French far-right leaders, including associates of Marine Le Pen, to discuss refinancing the National Front (now National Rally). The talks highlighted the party’s reliance on Russian funding, suggesting a wider effort to funnel Russian money into Europe’s far-right movements.

This alone should prompt deeper investigations across Europe, adding to the growing list of reasons to scrutinize these financial ties and inform the public about what’s at stake.

Why don’t we see this everywhere in the headlines? Where is the opposition? Why isn’t anyone talking about this?

I don’t know much about France, but there has been frequently reports about Russian and Chinese money for Germany’s far-right AfD.

Both malign state actors have been accused of supporting both the European far-right and far-left. One good overview regarding China:

Marriage of Convenience: How European Far-Right and Far-Left Discovered China

The convergence of some far-right and far-left political parties in Europe with China poses challenges not only to EU-China relations but also to European democratic institutions. As the ideological divides deepen and foreign influence operations become more sophisticated, the risk of manipulation grows, threatening both political stability and public trust.

I fully agree that this should be more investigated by the media.
