Oh, another tankie source. The Grayzone is well-known for …
… its misleading reporting, its criticism of American foreign policy, and its sympathetic coverage of the Russian, Chinese and former Syrian governments. The Grayzone has been accused of downplaying and defending the persecution of Uyghurs in China, of publishing conspiracy theories about Xinjiang, Syria and other regions, and of publishing pro-Russian propaganda and disinformation, especially during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Ad hominem attacks on the site rather than dealing with the subject matter is not the flex you think it is. Trump does the same thing with his “fake news” accusations.
Its clear that Parent and Amir Parasta are at best dubious sources but their claims are taken at face value by mainstream media to inflate death figures. That is newsworthy but completely ignored by corporate media.
After October 7th Israel’s claims of babies in ovens and mass rapes went unchallenged and provided justification for genocide. Its clear we have learned nothing from this.
Ad hominem attacks on the site rather than dealing with the subject matter
You realize the whole grayzone article is one big Ad hominem right?
Ad hominem attacks on

Also, “the dictatorship only killed 3000 protestors, they’re fine people really” isn’t much of a flex in itself.
Ok the number of deaths from the Monarchists is false. That still doesn’t change that there are deaths and the uprising in Iran is grass roots people.
Or are you thinking this is a “color revolution.” And the people who are revolting in the streets where paid by the Westren powers in some way?
Several current and former staff at this propaganda medium either work or have worked also for Russian propganda media like RT and Sputnik: Anya Parampil, Alex Rubinstein (the latter has been arrested during Trump’s first inauguration protests in 2017 in the U.S.), Kit Klarenberg, Mohamed Elmaazi, Dan Cohen, Rania Khalek and Jeremy Loffredo (see also here).
Some of these guys also work or have worked for the Kremlin.
Regarding the topic it is noteworthy that according to reports based on leaked documents, now Gray Zone managing editor Wyatt Reed received funding from Iranian broadcaster for “occasional contributions to its programming in 2020 and 2021” while he was working as a correspondent for Russia’s Sputnik news outlet.
And this is only a tiny sample of what you can tell about this medium that stands very close to authoritarian states.
