Ambassador Rose isn’t backing down— he’s been fiercely arguing on social media not only with Prime Minister Donald Tusk , but also with a random user on the X website who commented on one of his posts. “Should we take all our soldiers and equipment with us?” Rose asked, responding to a critical post in which a Polish user wrote, among other things, “The Polish nation respects its sovereignty. Go home.” Approximately 10,000 American troops are currently stationed in Poland.

This is honestly pathetic behavior for a diplomat. Since when is the security of the entire eastern flank of NATO something you throw around in a Twitter spat with a random guy? If a professional ambassador cannot handle a “go home” comment from an internet stranger without threatening to pull 10,000 troops, he is clearly in the wrong profession.

It is the same old transactional nonsense we keep seeing. It treats allies like vassals instead of partners. Poland is a sovereign country, not a playground for some guy’s ego trip or a tool for a political campaign. Threatening to leave over a hurt ego makes the US look completely unreliable as a partner.

And of course, PiS is just rolling over and supporting him because they care more about their partisan ties than national dignity. It is exhausting watching our security be treated like a bargaining chip in a social media meltdown. We need actual adults in the room for once.
