    A bunch of Arabic schools are calling their students taliban.

    More likely, tulaab. That’s the Arabic plural form.

    Talib means student or (more etymologically) seeker of knowledge in Arabic. The Taliban got their name because the original recruits were students. Taliban is talib with the Pushto plural form -an stuck onto it, because they were too illiterate to use the Arabic plural form.

      First parts informative, second part is pretty judgmental for something that sounds like a local language.
