I can’t wear thin frame, I need the thick plastic. The bridge supports on wire frames lead to tears in my skin that are quite painful with continued use. Plastic frames don’t do that.

But my frames are translucent dark pink and fade to clear at the bottom, so pretty obviously not shitty recording glasses. Thick black frames look absolutely shit on me.

I had a razor phone 2. Another device made by a company who doesn’t make phones for a living.

It was a piece of shit. The OS was buggy on the hardware, the hardware itself was bad, and the charger port was ever so slightly out of standard spec so using a normal usb-c cable on it would destroy the data/charge port. For the last year I used it I could only charge wirelessly, and unless ADB shell has a wireless mode these days, that means its very limitedly useful.

(I finally found a use for it; using it in my car, which has a wireless charger, as a wifi device to carry data-syphoning apps to find EV chargers… I figure as long as it can’t access anything except when I give it hotspot off my current phone, it’s as data secure as possible while still giving me access to valuable info locked in an app)

I just got a used ev. I needed something else because my car was having issues that would be expensive to fix, and wanted an ev anyway, so the decision wasn’t at all motivated by gas prices, even though the timing was. I didn’t want to wait and have used car prices skyrocket to the point i couldn’t afford one.

I feel that strongly about native bees and honey bees cause problems for them so… yeah. I’m big on native wildlife. Fuck invasive species.

Honeybees are not native where I am, and somehow we have so many crops that supposedly rely on them or they would fail entirely, how is that not invasive agriculture? People truck bees across the country to support these crops.

I’m not saying they can’t produce honey from native flowers, they can but that’s entirely beside the point, and that’s also competing with native bees, of which there are hundreds of species.

I don’t like honey so the things I do will be 100% to support non-honey bees because they are far far far more valuable than invasive honey bees ever could be…e.

I love my native bees. Especially mason bees. I love that they can’t be commercialized. I hate that people don’t care about them because they can’t be commercialized and that’s the whole reason my yard is mostly wild.

Fuuuuuuuck honey and the damage it causes the natural ecosystem. Fuck importing plants and making them work through invasive agriculture. If something can’t grow because we can’t keep the bees here because they aren’t native here…. TOO FUCKING BAD! Import it, don’t ruin the ecosystem trying to make it work.

If you have multiple accounts, which most of us probably do for stability reasons, it also aggregates everything across them so vote counts and user tags still show up on brand new accounts.

It’s very very nice.

First you have Waffle House, then you stay up until the donut shops open at 4 cuz let’s be serious that’s only another half hour at this point. You get too many donuts, because who doesn’t want copious amounts of sugar and fat on a stomach full of alcohol? Also because you are drunk and they all look good. Then you crash, maybe with a half-eaten donut in your hand.

As a bonus, you wake up to something some people consider a breakfast food.

If you, as a passenger, notice no difference in service, because they still find someone to cover the ride in the big pool of potential drivers who aren’t women who only drive for women, does it actually matter if some of the drivers are personally refusing to serve you? Have you actually been discriminated against by the service? Would you even know it happened? I doubt it.

There is. It’s substantial, but much more subtle than on Reddit. Slurs and outright sexism usually get you banned pretty quick here, so it’s largely just the casual sexism left, but it runs pretty deep. And it’s been here at least as long as I have overall (my oldest account is about 3 yo). In the original wave, the shitty population drove off the vast majority of cis female users within 6 months, which is a huge part of why the demographics around here are so heavily skewed toward men. This is also why the women’s communities, which all died out and were resurrected during the second Lemmy population boom, are so heavily policed to shut men down.

You can tell we have such a population because all posts like these about women getting anything at all, good or bad, always, without fail, have an absolute glut of comments. If you then take the time to read all of them, a solid percentage are very clearly motivated by sexism. Now, commenters are obviously self-selecting, so it’s impossible to say in absolute terms, but of the people who choose to comment on such things, and generously leaving out any comments that may just be poorly worded, I’ve typically seen between 10 and 30% of the comments have such motivations, depending how old the post is and how much visibility it got. Downvotes also flow like wine if you challenge those comments, or call out the trend. And it’s not always the same people, it’s different shitty people most of the time.

Yeah, honestly they have needed to be changed for years now, what with all the data breaches and stuff… Pretty sure everyone’s info was leaked ages ago. Nothing has been done because this is how the people in charge want it.

It’s “absent without official leave”, meaning they don’t have permission from the chain of command to be absent from their post (which is literally just wherever they are supposed to be).

It’s not a matter of saying you’ll be gone and when you’ll be back, it’s a matter of having official permission to be away from your duties at all. They won’t get you for it for being off-base in your free time, but if you are off-base on THEIR time, then you are AWOL. You can also be AWOL without actually going anywhere, like if you are sick and stay in bed without contacting your superior, or medical for a chit, very likely considered AWOL.

Going AWOL is often a court-martial offense, and often results in a dishonorable discharge, which is right up there with a felony conviction insofar as the impact on your life long term is concerned.

Hypothetically yes, but I only ever accessed fediverse through non-apps briefly before I swapped to the app. I was part of the Reddit app-based exodus. That was the whole reason I came here; to support app devs.

If it’s not reflected in apps, lots of people will never see it. That’s all. I can go out of my way to see it but I don’t see it in my normal interface. Voyager is still working on full piefed support

I’m on voyager app tho so that’s likely a limiting feature even tho it’s supposed to be working on that comparability.

I care about random supermarkets. People need to eat and obtain basic necessities even if some random database with no oversight says they might be dangerous in some way that we don’t get to know about.

Don’t even need it to look that bad. You can buy tiny stickers to cover that light in such a way as to near-completely hide it.
