I’ve got a decade old Sony ereader that’s still good as new. Battery lasts a couple weeks too, I love it.

Unfortunately not. That’s like saying “A burglar put a spycam in my house once. I simply said no and he removed it. So hopefully it stays that way”. It’s there, you just can’t see it now.

If Canada became fully independent from the Crown we’d have to draw up a completely new constitution as the current one is tightly tied to the Crown. Personally, I don’t trust anyone these days to create a new constitution, as an unfortunate chunk of the country seems to want to eliminate current rights as it is. For as much as some Canadians want or demand to remove the Crown from Canada, it’s really not feasible, and could potentially (probably) completely destroy the country.

There’s no point in saying technically, he is the King of Canada. That being said the Crown is mostly symbolic like the UK, however symbols can be very powerful. By inviting the King to open Parliament, Carney is symbolically reminding Trump that Canada is much bigger than just one country. Likewise the Chiefs are reminding Canada, specifically Alberta, that the Crown holds the treaties, not Canada.
Basically this is like getting picked on in school then bringing your big brother to lunch. He doesn’t have to do anything, the point is to remind your bullies you have some pretty strong support, and they should think again about continuing to bully you.

This is what I don’t get from a business standpoint. Why would anyone buy an AI read audiobook for $20 when they can get the exact same audio by buying the ebook for $0.99 and running it through AI?

Of course they don’t click anything. Google search has just become a front-end for Gemini, the answer is “served” up right at the top and most people will just take that for Gospel.

Haha yup, just one of the quips Carney made that went over Trump’s head. Referring to Canada being owned by Canadians to a man who believes he owns his country himself was really well done.

I love that Trump was probably wondering who the “owners of Canada” are and how he can contact them.

I dunno, I’d like to try to be hopeful. The NDP has a real shot to completely rebrand and come back swinging. Convince Charlie Angus to come out of retirement and lead the party, and spend the next however-long-this-term-lasts rebuilding support. I can’t think of a better outcome than having to Sophie’s Choice between Carney and Angus. Imagine having to choose between 2 legitimately good party leaders.

True enough. I suspect that “yet” will come pretty soon though. I’m hoping all of these ‘early AI adopter’ companies fuck themselves out of business. With the tech as it is, most companies pivoting their products to AI on the user-end are just introducing a middle man. Once people catch on to it and realize they can just cut out the middle man, they hopefully won’t last long.

This kind of thing is what confuses me as a business model. Take audio books for example, Audible is pivoting to ai voices. Why would people spend $20 on an audio book with an ai voice when they can just spend $1.99 on the eBook and run it through an ai voice program themselves?

I too watched Death of a Unicorn
Yep, and there’s no way Musk, Trump, and Putin aren’t trying to rig that vote. A Papal blessing would go a long way to speeding up their march.

Trudeau’s Liberals increased defense funding from Harper’s Conservative gov’t and Carney’s Liberals just bought a $6bil state-of-the-art early warning radar defense system from Australia. Seems the Libs take defense more seriously than the Cons.
Well they have become less satirical than reality so…now I don’t know what to do.
