Wonder if this will work on the innumerable obvious covers of popular songs by no-name bands which get listed as being from the original artists. Probably not, which is why I stopped using Spotify even before so many of their other shitty moves.

There might not be a need to ditch them if they weren’t so locked down & consumables like batteries needlessly difficult to replace. We’re not ditching the phones “every five months,” either, but the battery life is still forcing retirement much earlier than necessary even without the software support issue.

No, but they are close enough to that to be having economic effects upon Taiwan by reducing the number of potential trading partners willing to risk inviting China’s wrath. Ship captains would likely rather avoid a run-in with China’s Navy.

One could argue China is right on the borderline of effectively doing that, likely scaring off some trading partners and thereby causing economic impacts - albeit significantly less severe than those currently experienced by Cuba.

Taiwan brings major economic benefits to its “supporting” countries via its technological exports & is thus too important to allow to fall into China’s hands if it can be avoided.

Wow, I’ve really got to spell it out for you, huh? Azure Linux will not be exempt - Microsoft will add the required routines to it, and if they are the only ones to do so, then they soak up the server market in CA.

ETA: I doubt that will wind up being the case as other commercial vendors will not want to be left behind, but we were discussing the theoretics.

If the only server OS legally capable of running in CA is Microsoft’s - be it Windows, or their particular spin of Linux - guess who’s gonna sop up all that government contract money?

And there’s nothing keeping them from adding it themselves for their own in-house use & profit.

Turn off “debug” in the app settings to stop that & have it only report suspect devices instead of everything it sees.
