I say let’s keep it unbanned, but matadores now have to go into the ring empty fisted and no picadores are allowed so that they can’t whittle down at the Bull’s capabilities. Just a 1 on 1 match to the death with both “athletes” at peak performance

Yes, exactly. Because this has never been about “fairness” or “fighting a worthy fight” as supporters of corridas like to pretend. it’s just about slowly torturing to death an animal in front of a live audience.

Of course it’s “technically” correct, but I’m a bit tired of Spain being known for bullfighting and people not realizing that it’s actually very unpopular here.
Like also tourist shops in Barcelona still sell bullfighting related articles, even if corridas were actually legally banned for many years in Catalonia (ban reversed by the conservative constitutional court years later). It just shows that this shit is still something people think about when thinking of Spain

Are you in Canarias? Because in Catalonia, where it was banned, the constitutional court reversed the ban as punishment for the independence movement (while leaving the canaries ban standing, clear double standard). So it’s sadly not officially banned in Catalonia any more, but of course no corridas actually happen as they’d get no money from the Generalitat.

Not really, that’s only if they survive and are pardoned, which is very rare. The normal thing is for the Bull’s bloodline to be ended

Well, the traditional thing is the opposite, his whole bloodline is ended

admired by many Spaniards
Sorry but no. Bullfighting is actually very unpopular in Spain. It’s a relic of the past that’s kept on life support by conservative politics.

How is this a joke? Am I the only one that doesn’t get Trump’s “jokes”? To me it just looks like a demented idiot with a foot in his mouth

It does make sense. Just like it would make a lot of sense for parental leave to be the same length for both parents, and mandatory to be taken. Sure, it’s the mother who has given birth and needs the time to medically recover, but that’s not the only use of the parental leave. Both parents need to bond with the baby and take care of it. And if you make it the same length and mandatory you remove any argument against hiring women “because they might get pregnant”.
Same principle, better outcome for everyone.

Catalan here, always funny to see monolinguals be shocked when China does it but turn around and see nothing wrong with Spain imposing Spanish to all its regions in the same way

But when Spain or France does the same to its own minorities nobody cares

You build breeder reactors or use any of the non-uranium designs that were ignored by countries because they didn’t have weapons grade byproducts.
There are ways to deal with the waste, the problem is always politics/greed as it cuts into the profits. Same is true for other energy sources btw, with coal we happily shoot the waste into the atmosphere and pretend nothing’s wrong with that.

The refusal is not because of the “bombing a school” specifically, it’s about the “starting a war to cover pedophiles” thing

Glad it’s getting better for him, but we should not forget that their conditions in a Japanese zoo are still fucking terrible.
That’s why you won’t get to their situation. You self-select out of it

There are other ways to ban social media for minors that don’t go through full fledged online IDs for everything. But you seem to want to ignore that, it’s a false dichotomy.
Banning social media for minors (or better yet, opaque algorithmic feeds for everyone) = Good.
Trying to achieve that by giving overreaching powers to a government, that can be used as a tool of oppression when democracy wavers = very bad.
As for low trust societies, mate, I’ve been gassed, beaten up and shot at with rubber bullets by riot police in Spain, for the egregious crime of peacefully protesting. It’s a country where the memory of the dictatorship, and it’s power structures, are still very much alive. Francoism never fully left

I don’t want them to use it. I agree with all your points.
I strongly disagree that mandatory ID on the net is the solution to this.
It also fascinates me that you’d think putting such a tool, with all the trouble it could cause if our countries stop being democracies, in the hands of government as a purported solution to children being on social media. That’s throwing out the baby with the bathwater

A government platform you say? From the government that regularly gets hacked, leaking the IDs of millions of Spanish citizens that can now be used to commit identity fraud? https://hipertextual.com/seguridad/hackers-venta-millones-dni-espanoles-dark-web/
and it’s not like this is a rare thing to happen.
ETA killed innocent people, and that is bad of course, and those victims and their families deserve all the support they get.
But sometimes right wing politicians try to make us feel bad about some of the earlier victims of ETA by putting them all in the same bag as the innocents. Francoist pieces of shit like Meliton Manzanas, one of the main torturers for the regime and Gestapo collaborator. Or Spain’s first astronaut. Those do not belong alongside the real innocent victims, because they were the furthest away from being innocent.
