Was with you until that last bit. I’m not opposed to democratic reforms or testing socialist ideas piecemeal. But massive restructurings of society towards utopia have… a history…

You are making an excellent point right up until your last paragraph. What 15 year old boy wants to be Mr Fucking Rogers? Sure, maybe they want to be him in like 40 years (but only the version of him who was secretly a marine sniper covered in tattoos everywhere his sweaters hid). What does a 15 year old boy who is vulnerable to the manosphere want? He wants to get paid and get laid.
Trying to shove a 15 year old’s raging hormones and desire for rebellion and independence into a Mr Rogers box will only lead to… more rebellion. Give the kids role models who are good people, who also succeed at things they care about.
Idk. I don’t fuck with them, they don’t fuck with me. Bees are pretty docile in my experience. Been stung plenty by wasps, though.
This is just literally how the world works
Idk, I’ve never been stung by a bee. I might be deathly allergic, but I have no idea.
Declining birth rates != a complete cessation of births. There will still be young people. Just fewer of them. They will get paid more for doing young people things.
You’ve clearly never tried to use Wikipedia to help with your math homework
When people talk about AI taking off exponentially, usually they are talking about the AI using its intelligence to make intelligence-enhancing modifications to itself. We are very much not there yet, and need human coaching most of the way.
At the same time, no technology ever really follows a particular trend line. It advances in starts and stops with the ebbs and flows of interest, funding, novel ideas, and the discovered limits of nature. We can try to make projections - but these are very often very wrong, because the thing about the future is that it hasn’t happened yet.
Yeah, imma need a source for those numbers.
Yeah, tech firms that are trying to hype their AI products as the next big thing are trying to spin the narrative that they are suffering economically. As someone who was a junior sw dev in the past, I can tell you that AI written code is 100% not good enough to do that job. It might be utilized to do that work faster - but then any sensible business wouldn’t lay off their juniors, but instead would simply have them produce more output in order to sell more product and make more money.
I suggest the legislature double as a pre-school, then, and see how they like it.
But I have children, so I’m biased that way.
That was your choice. People should be able to go places and not have to hang out with your kids.
The internet hate machine is hardly an exclusively American problem.
I mean, I honestly don’t have a problem with a notification telling me I need to top off my oil, or telling me I’ve driven enough that it is time for the scheduled maintenance. I just also want to be able to manually check the oil level with a dip stick.
You would think an engineer would understand this… I assume this is a decision from management.
Some children need choke collars
Thank God.
I did it. Lots of people I know did it. The main trick is cutting toxic people out of your life, moving to a better place, and making new friends who are also dedicated to succeeding.
