That can be a serious challenge for large parts of the USA. Growing up, the nearest grocery store to my father’s house was nearly three miles, up a narrow and busy highway. Biking was possible, but definitely a little harrowing. Walking was prohibitively time-consuming. And that’s in a relatively dense New England town. I’ve lived places out west where it was over an hour to drive to the store.
Yes, but the problem is that these are not meant to be forever drugs. You’re supposed to take them in conjunction with changing diet and exercise habits so that you can go off the drug and maintain a healthy weight on your own. Often people get off of these drugs without having done the work, and they end up right back where they started.

People regularly reaffix buttons or patch holes in clothing. Should they not be allowed to? I mean, it’s not that expensive to just buy new clothing, right? And the new styles are just better than what you’re used to, that’s objective fact even if it’s not to your taste.

School is not about socialization. Socialization absolutely happens there, but it’s not the primary purpose, and it does not exclude predatory adults. See: the rampant rates of bullying and violence that occur, and get further enabled by faculty who either ignore complaints or both-sides it into victim-blaming.

I mean, methadone is a portion-controlled opioid used to treat heroin addiction. It’s traditionally meant to be weaned off of, but there are plenty of people that use it their whole life.
It’s the equivalent of sitting down with a dietician, making a meal plan, and holding yourself accountable to it. Addiction only ends when the user is willing to commit to the action.
