        You’re missing the point. Hint: Not everyone here is from the US. Many are even from countries where veteran veneration is not a thing.

      Well, they’re not gonna say “my veterans” are they? If you are talking to a foreigner and telling them about your currency or whatever, wouldn’t you say, “oh yeah, our currency is more colorful than yours.” In other words, “our” doesn’t necessarily include the person being spoken to.
