If the factor of inflation for housing, transportation, education, medical care, groceries, childcare, etc. were the same as bread over the last 66 years, that would work. Since they’ve wildly inflated, getting people to think in terms of bread prices through the years would only teach them to be blind to their actual economic situation which is so, so much worse than their ability to but a loaf of bread.
Further, if that actually caught on, they’d just lower the price of bread to convince people how great they’re doing while squeezing more blood from every other stone.
Not saying just use bread. Use any common item that is a staple. Rice, gallons of gas, etc. you can even do a mix, feel free to experiment. But using dollar value I think isnt very effective.
