It’s celebrating the fact that the country somehow hasn’t fallen apart yet
In the year 2100, when American children learn about the late capitalist era and the revolution, will they conclude the country hadn’t fallen apart by 2026?
250 years of regret?
Now this is surprising. I thought one thing that American education system did well is constantly brainwashing you about the Founding Fathers, Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary War, etc.
At this point, a lot of school systems here operate on the idea that education only matters if you’re going to go to college.
Even fifty years ago, a high school diploma meant that someone could handle being a bank cashier or stock clerk. Today, most students graduate as functional illiterates.
It really does explain some of the dipshits that are taking up space on my job’s production floor. We have a few that can’t even make sense of a picture. The kids are not alright.
Parents used to defer to teachers; if the teacher said the kid needed to study harder mom and dad would crack the whip. Now it’s the teacher’s fault little Johnny can’t tie his own shoes.
I think this is a common observation across the globe.
Since computers were introduced to classrooms kids cognitive abilities have been declining.
with no child left behind and all that the only way you’re not graduating from an American High School is if you’re dead. that’s it. you can read stories of kids skipping classes for weeks, months on end, and they still graduate. Kids who can’t read or read at like a third grade level, don’t know any maths, etc and they graduate also. And the scary thing is these same kids are STILL getting into colleges simply because they have the money to do so.
A colleague of mine works for a College in the United States and is constantly stating how many of his students have a hard time reading and writing. Don’t know basic Math. Can barely work a computer. And he teaches in STEM!
So I don’t think it’s that surprising for Americans. This is something they’ve systematically been trying to achieve for awhile now. A dumb population is easier to control, easier to manipulate, easier to point their anger at whatever the administration needs, easier to breed.
The Republicans are very opposed to educated non white males. Education only matters as a financial gateway which is why our higher education is mostly job training. In for a penny, in for a pound.
When the federal government integrated the schools the Republicans fled the cities and continued to wage the same economic war against minorities jobs and property and most importantly education that they’d been steadily at since reconstruction.
They tore down a top tier education system and put the country decades behind. They tore down what was a thriving middle class, and destroyed the unions. All the time saying that it was our fault for integrating the schools.
If Americans wanted integrated schools they should have paid for them.
I think they are opposed to all educated males and females. Minorities are a big part of the Republican voting block. I think this is a misread: people vote right because they want solutions and the light policies of the left are not enough. They don’t want immigration because they’re worried about house prices.
The Republicans see this as easy wins and say everything is a zero sum game. This is clear to anyone educated but like any manipulative position they expand it to cover everything.
The Democrats need to do this as well, and they should stick to housing. They should say a house should cost 250,000, and stick to it.
I think you should be a little more cautious because I don’t think white males have a monopoly on education and your statements are somewhat racist. You see this in the current administration they try to be racist but they can’t find enough functionally qualified people and there are considerable numbers of women or people from other countries. I also don’t think education has a monopoly on income which clouds the issue further.
I mean, white males have had a monopoly on education for a real long time and education has been a gateway to property for a really long time, at least where I’m from.
I believe these were active battles until fairly unless I missed something.
But you’re right the racists have had a lot of problems finding educated people to do stupid things. I’m not sure how much I think they’ve really tried though.
Our supreme leader’s birthday
It’s just that celebrating 250 years doesn’t make any sense, since everyone knows the USA is 2026 years old.
I would also imagine 98% don’t know our current government only formed in 1786, not 1776.
Edit: see even I didn’t know it was written in 1787 and went into effect in 1789.
And yet the Army was formed in 1775 I believe (strange to think about an Army being formed for a country that doesn’t exist yet).
It’s like twenty years difference people
Trump and general corruption is what the current celebration seems to be about.
i bet half of the muricans don’t even know what murica is
Nearly Half of Americans Don’t Know What America’s 250th Is Celebrating
we’re living in Idiocracy
Half of Americans can’t count to 250
That it’s true agenda is finally out?
It is mostly celebrating it’s current dictator isn’t it?
