Greenlandish company “White Flame Energy A/S” have official licenses and permissions to look for oil. In 2024, White Flame Energy were bought by british 80 Mile PLC, and thereby is in control of the licenses (although from greenland media sermitsiaq.ag they should have has oil research licenses since 2015). The american company “Greenland Energy Company” has entered partnership with 80 Mile, and they are the investors that will fund the project and run the drilling operations. The trump link seems to be Greenland Energy’s chairperson “Larry Swets”, who appears in Trumps circle (According to The Guardian).
So it seems like a capitalistic invasion; pay the bill and get to run the operations, while the brits do PR control with the locals.
