Trump gets things because he acts like he’s entitled to them and nobody acts like he isn’t. This is only the beginning.

It’s a GOOD thing Greenland is doing NOTHING to Stop this! As we’ve learned TIME and TIME Again the BEST way to Combat Trump is by doing NOTHING at all so he Learns his Lesson!

Then they’re going to send over the US military to protect those Denmark assets? And make Denmark pay for it? While taking the oil?

I imagine this is a provocation, but why would it involve military? This is a police matter. I don’t know Greenland’s law enforcement structure but there must be someone who can arrest every person who violates Greenland law, as well as cancelling whatever license they’re doing business as

It can’t be a military provocation if there’s no military, right? Even mango Mussolini wouldn’t respond with military to a police matter?

I was interested in what it means to be “trump-linked” in this case. So I looked at the danish media and basically: Greenlandish company “White Flame Energy A/S” have official licenses and permissions to look for oil. In 2024, White Flame Energy were bought by british 80 Mile PLC, and thereby is in control of the licenses (although from greenland media sermitsiaq.ag they should have has oil research licenses since 2015). The american company “Greenland Energy Company” has entered partnership with 80 Mile, and they are the investors that will fund the project and run the drilling operations. The trump link seems to be Greenland Energy’s chairperson “Larry Swets”, who appears in Trumps circle (According to The Guardian).

So it seems like a capitalistic invasion; pay the bill and get to run the operations, while the brits do PR control with the locals.

They are probably in on it. As we just learned a uk company is also involved.

Truly cynical take? Denmark wants to allow the drilling but they know it won’t play to the people, so they play good cop to usa bad cop to get what they want distracting the euros with more America bad while conveniently not doing a damned thing to stop it.

Shut this down, Greenland. Allowing it is making a huge, massive statement that the US can do whatever it wants with your country.

This is invasion ffs. Appeasing the mad King will only make him demand more, as has happened with every powerful narcissist in history. Letting him drill only opens the door for him to start mines for rare earth, and he will, of that I can assure you.

    I don’t get this part

Nuuk concluded that ordering the containers removed “would not be proportionate,” leaving the government to choose between licensing drilling in an area that may fall under wetlands protection or refusing and risking handing Trump an opening to press his claim harder.

Why would it not be proportionate, given that they lied about having a license?

It’s like Karoline Leavitt saying she quits her job because she ‘wants to spend more time with her family’. Everyone knows it’s a bullshit reason, but it’s just plausible enough to keep anyone from actually calling bullshit. I take it they just don’t want to kick the hornet’s nest.

I think Greenland should send law enforcement and have them demonstrate as much restraint and accountability as ICE agents do.

The fact the entirety of both EU and Nato (obviously not the US) isn’t sending a small military force is probably the biggest mistake they’ve ever made. They better be prepared, because this will keep escalating, the US will keep ramping up the piracy and invasions. Band together, stop following us down the authoritian hole, unite for all your sakes.

Arctic Sentry is a NATO mission on Greenland that has been ongoing since early this year with quite a few European members sending troups this summer. The response to Trump is small for now, but it’s not like there’s no military response at all.

Time to send in the police, confiscate the equipment, and take the workers away for questioning.
