There’s the idea that it makes abusing actual children more likely, but I wonder about that. Does rape porn make a person more likely to commit a rape? Do shooting games promote gun violence?
There’s also the idea that drawn images which don’t relate to real-world child abuse can offer therapeutic outlets for non-offending people suffering from pedophilia. Such material might make it less likely for children to be abused.
I think there’s value in us asking and discussing the question, but that experts with proper scientific data are needed for an answer.
If it turned out to be harmless, but also not beneficial in protecting children, should it still be allowed? I know I’d feel better if most sites refused to host that kind of thing, but I can’t really justify that stance in a logical way. I feel like the people who draw it and look at it must be bad people, but I think that’s probably also what some people must think of some of the shit I fap to.
I’m also fairly certain no image generator is capable of producing CP without having been trained on it, so AI images are ultimately the result of actual child abuse. The machines can’t just guess what things look like the way we can. Look into the “full wine glass” story for a demonstration of what I mean.

That’s so pedantic, but yes, they’re a treatment for an uncontrollable appetite. Do you mean to suggest that you’re against medical treatments which are not cures?

Yeah, they’d never put an unsafe vehicle into production. It would help boost confidence if someone explained what the backup plan is.

They’re a cure for having an uncontrollable appetite, which makes dieting difficult to impossible.

If 99% of people aren’t a thing, then 1% of people are. That’s like 80 million people.

How is that different from like antidepressants or thyroid medication, etc? You’ll have symptoms again if you stop the pills.
Sushi is not raw fish. Sushi is vinegared rice.

Here in Sweden the government recently lowered taxes on groceries so that the stores would lower their prices for customers. lol

It’s not impossible at all. You just have to blur the faces and any identifying marks unless you’ve obtained explicit consent. Kind people already do this regularly.

The parents are also suffering from the negative medical effects of algorithms designed to manipulate and addict. You’re asking why a victim of drug abuse isn’t a more responsible parent.

I’m not trying to do a gotcha, but doesn’t your post also mean that Lemmy is bad and no one should use it?

No one said we know everything about our biology. But we’re made up of particles, just like everything else. We don’t fully understand those particles either, but it doesn’t make them not real or not subject to the rules reality seems to follow.
They actually make little pills you can swallow to take samples at certain locations a long your digestion, so I suppose I could, given the knowledge and resources. Surgical sampling is also possible.
But I don’t see why it matters because all of the bacteria and archaea present in the body are made up of subatomic particles.

We’re not actually individuals; we’re massive colonies of cells that work in concert. Memories and consciousness are both products of chemical interactions that happen between the cells, and the cells themselves are conglomerates of subatomic particles. Everything about us is determined by particle physics, which can be expressed and predicted mathematically.

I don’t mean to argue against flowers, but why specifically Pennsylvania? What about everywhere else?

I think they picked it because it’s popular with recruitment-age men who grew up on the Lego movies/games and Roblox. I think the point is primarily to target the source of US personnel, to discourage enlistment and reduce moral.

What if what I’m looking for is an article I can’t read without subscribing, removing my adblock, and/or accepting a bunch of cookies? Or one that sends me away entirely because that’s easier than being GDPR-compliant? Surely you’d click on those results.

That’s very helpful, thank you.

Bilingual and ESL programs are still designed such that the student will learn English though. I’m not aware of a state in which a child can graduate high school without English as a core subject.
Also some plastics are made renewably and/or are biodegradable. It’s a broad range of materials.
