The president keeps straight up lying and saying the deal covers the nuclear issue, even as Iran says it doesn’t.

This deal won’t hold even if it’s reached. As if our president could say no to Israel when they restart hostilities. This thing won’t end, it just remains to be seen if Iran is willing to accept lebanon being turned into gaza and attacks against Iran and their people while still keeping the straits open.

This will go on forever, peace deal or no.

Don’t be so sure. Trump has tipped the US’s hand and shown them to be weak as piss. It’s going to be pretty hard to walk back from here now since Trump has ruined all the soft power the US had around the world, and now we all know the military aren’t up to the task either the US will no longer hold a position of power at the negotiating table. Trump has completely and utterly fucked the US globally.

Can you imagine Iran embarrassing the US weekly in the 1970s? They wouldn’t have dared. But now most of the world is laughing with them as we watch Trump shart himself to death.

It is impossible to verify the draft agreement, which the Mirror has been given, because it could be a Tehran bid to combat the lies about settlements uttered by Trump.

Even the mirror is calling all sides as lacking credibility, fucking hell if that’s not an indication of how fucked this whole situation is…

No, its not victory, its just them getting whatever they want and us giving it to them in order to make the killing stop.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about the killing, what he want is for the oil prices to go down again.
But he can only achieve that by accepting that he lost, and that’s the part he doesn’t like.
For Trump it’s always about winning, he can’t stand to look like a loser. If he can make it look like a win, and get the oil prices down, then he will accept a deal. But it’s very hard to see what such a deal could be?

I wouldn’t consider it a win if they get paid merely the damages caused - they did lose lives after all. But also, if true, Magastan didn’t win anything.

If the leaked details are remotely accurate (they’re consistent with previous leaked drafts, so they do sound credible) this is a total capitulation on the part of the United States.

According to leaks to Iranian media the draft includes a reconstruction which will result in Tehran receiving $300 billion to rebuild its cities. Also included will be the release of $24 billion in blocked Iranian funds, half of which must be paid to Iran before fresh talks start.

Damn, that’s an Israeli level supply of foreign aid.

Iran should make him call it the “Obama best ever president peace deal”. I’d be willing to hold out for that but also I don’t buy gas.

So Obama merely released Iran’s own monetary assets in American banks that we had frozen, which Trump attacked relentlessly, as recently as last week, but now he’s going to PAY them to repair the damage HE caused?

He won’t be able to rationalize these concessions, so once again he will kill the deal, and blame Biden.

Haha he’s so used to his deals being unknown so he probably can’t accept one less than Obama’s previous deal since itll be public. Hard to spin the cash they’re giving them when numbers are known.

This is your bed you lay in it, unfortunately a position Trump will never accept. Mean hopefully he does for everyone else but that alone means nothing for Trump…the great deal maker, the bastion of making a deal, apparently he made an art of it or something by being the best bullshitter.

Iran will keep it closed until after the elections. They understand exactly how poisonous this is to Trump, and how it will affect MAGA in the election. Keeping the Strait closed hurts Trump and MAGA more than all the missiles in their arsenal, and they have to do almost nothing to maintain it for as long as they feel like it.

If Trump tries to throw a few missiles, they’ll just retaliate by bombing our shitty friends (but not Saudi Arabia, never the Saudis), who will then get madder at US.

Why doesn’t Iran attack KSA, apart from a few US bases? I thought they were the main rival in the region, and given the extent that the US and Israel have already been attacking them I don’t see much risk of escalation

They don’t need to. They’re winning, and widening the conflict now can only hurt them. All Iran has to do is sit tight, lob a missile at the strait every now and then, and wait for the US to fold. They’ve found the perfect strategy for this situation and opponent.

Here’s some hopium for us all: Considering how little the average person has benefited from economic growth, that might not be so bad.

Especially if it hastens our independence from fossil fuels (which, in a sane world, events like this absolutely should).

That is a wild thought. I saw something that said the top ten percent of the economy is the only sector of the economy showing any movement. Essentially that 90% of Americans have zero economic power.

Your observation kinda lines up with that. It would also make “I love the inflation” make sense. The capital class is doing good.

Hold on to your britches, the economy is going down like a rollercoaster. After the SpaceX and other AI company IPOs, odds are that a bubble much larger than the Dotcom iteration will explode.

I could do with less interesting times.

You don’t benefit from economic growth, but you damn sure will get fired if we have another once in a life time recession. Don’t worry though, bailouts for the brave companies firings workers.
