    Lindsey Graham’s senate seat was not up for reelection this year, but now it is. Predictions still had Republicans in control of the senate just due to the distribution of vacancies this cycle, and I still don’t feel too confident that outlook will meaningfully change, but having one more seat up for vote makes things interesting (McConnell’s was sadly already up for vote, so his death doesn’t change much).

      Any time a seat is up for election, there’s anxiety, but an OPEN seat is always a serious concern, especially in a reform year like this. So they can’t count on anything.

      It means MAGA is going to have to spend a LOT of money to establish a candidate, and shove him across the finish line. Money that was earmarked for someone else.

      This is nothing but terrible for MAGA, during a terrible election. Cool.

        Absolutely. It makes the best case scenario of ending Republican control of the Senate a bit more likely for sure, though I’m hesitant to hold out hope that voters in enough of those Republican safe states will vote differently than they usually do. It’ll take a real push in those areas to make a difference, but here’s to hoping everyone turns out to vote.

          If if ain’t him, because that would be ecstatic and we haven’t been that lucky lately, Ken Paxton and Greg Abbot would be somewhat acceptable. Any of the conservative SCJs would be pretty sick too, without McConnell or Graham, the DNC could do the funniest thing and use Mitch’s tactic to leave the seat empty for two years
