As problematic as organised religion is, this is just the type of guy that will piggyback on any form of belief or ideological system in order to be an arsehole.
I’m increasingly agreeing with this take, especially when donations as involved or where support by way of affiliation gives cultural power from sheer numbers. If you don’t really agree with what religious officals say, why stay?
I dunno, trans people seems to be pretty fucking popular, and doesn’t stem from religion. Before them it was immigrants…
These people have been conned, just because it was done from a religious end, doesn’t mean if we got rid of religion, people would suddenly be rational. There’s absolutely no evidence to support that thought. (Cite me if I’m wrong).
What kind of people do you think start and flock to religions that offer worldly power and authority? Organized religion isn’t just problematic, it is the smoking gun.
Yes, that would be the ones holding the gun. Predator-minded self-serving people have always been among us, and instead of handling them properly we raise them up and put them in charge over us time and time again. Religion and government, the perennial weapons used by the human enemies of humanity.
As an aside, it’s crazy how you can go back to ancient Egypt and see evidence of the pharaohs manipulating the masses using religion. First to establish themselves as demigods and second to extend immortality after death to the hardest workers. For some reason people following modern religions can see that example clearly for what it is, but scoff at the idea that it applies to their’s.
By capital I meant the capture of basic necessities. Healthcare (United Healthcare), shelter (progress residential/greystar), food (Tyson foods/Monsanto), water (Nestle, AWK), comfort (Too broad, but you get the point)…

And every “nice” person who indulges in religion directly enables him. We should be relying on evidence to guide our choices, not magical thinking.
Which ideology/belief do you think he would use if religion was not an option?

Your blaming the method, not the people.

I’m more than convinced it is not confined to religion, and ignoring that is a big problem.

Don’t forget capital, but well said.

Currencies are issued by governments, but I agree that capital should be spotlighted as a major part of the problem.
