The most damning thing about the AFD isn’t their political or moral compass, it’s that the billionaires (and strangely enough - the Russians) want them in power.

I don’t think it is strange at all that the Russians want them in power since the Russians are also Nazis.

Putin is colluding with Israel as we speak, I guess he can put his antisemitism on hold to gain power.

It all goes together with the no integrity nor good values, and matches how the orange likes putin too, more authoritarian and less freedom and quality of life, just like Russia, Argentina and since maga. Their propaganda to blame minorities and double down never worked, at least for the majority to have good lives, so they should all learn from it and not repeat it, but they don’t learn, need more suffering before change course, and later claim they didn’t know.

and strangely enough - the Russians

That’s not really strange. Russia has wanted to destabilize and weaken Europe and the USA for a long time, and getting far right parties running things is a proven formula.

Nah, Konfa is just a bunch of late stage capitalist libertarian manchildren, they’re enthusiastically in the kneeling end of the fascists gloryhole, but they’re not actually nazis… just yet.

AfD though? Fucking wehraboos. Hang them without mercy.

I’ve begun in somewhat recent time to realize western society sort of “running shit” on a global economic scale might have more to do with happenstance than any sort of innate right. Such as our respect for human rights, so to speak — these principles don’t necessarily grant us passage to the front.

Unipolar world order is what I think I’ve heard it called before. Effectively U.S.-led liberal international order, as I understand it. This structure of governance is held together via the multinational institutions and agreements which secure the economic means for every part of it to sustain itself.

Somehow, someway this particular world order was created but it’s not clear by what. Was it WWII and the fact that the US just happened to very well positioned thereafter?

Regardless, the events that made this order and probably not event we explicitly control. We may use the fruits of this order to maintain this order, but that is different from controlling the full set of conditions which give rise to new order at all. Without that, how can one ever know maintaining the order would be enough to keep it?

I’ve begun to take more seriously the idea that nonwestern nations are taking seriously the possibility of a multipolar world order in our future. Question is, I don’t really know if that’s a bad thing. Perhaps it is a more dangerous this, but dangerous for who? Western nations or really everyone?

Also echoes the last words of another nazi:

Fritz Sauckel was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and was hanged at Nuremberg Prison on 16 October 1946. His last words were recorded as “Ich sterbe unschuldig, mein Urteil ist ungerecht. Gott beschütze Deutschland. Möge es leben und eines Tages wieder groß werden. Gott beschütze meine Familie.” (“I die an innocent man, my sentence is unjust. God protect Germany. May it live and one day become great again. God protect my family.”)

        An appropriate penalty.

If someone refuses to acknowledge and atone for crimes against humanity, they need to be separated from humanity…. Forever.

One of the things the AfD keeps going on about is that Germans should step out of that shame etc. They haven’t completely forgotten, but they certainly want to.

Maybe not those in power or seeking it, but the younger generation lacks a firm understanding of the atrocities of WW2 and the rise to power of those that committed them.

Isn’t the place they won in was a former East-German state. If my former ex-communist state is anything to come by, I guess that way too many history teachers taught that the nazis were evil for evil sake, and didn’t had stuff like blaming economic distress on the Jewish population. Still remember a certain history teacher asking us “Why the Jews for no good reason?”, all while she was an anti-Roma racist.
