I agree that Sam Altman is probably trying to deflect from all the (well-deserved) bad press he’s getting right now… but if he was going to make up a story, it should have been closer to when he got caught helping teens kill themselves.

It really just confirms to me that the two ends of the horseshoe were really liberals and Marxists, not Marxists and fascists. You both have republican states which promise great things that they never quite delivers on. You both ignore that every state is fundamentally driven by geopolitical “realism,” and that ideology can only bend away from fascism when it can justify the move as being in the system’s interest. You refuse to seriously interrogate the ideology, probably because you really, really, really want a team to root for.
I’m not even gonna claim that there is some mythical sweet spot between two extremes, as they aren’t really at opposite ends of a spectrum. I just want people to open their eyes more, even if they still continue in whichever camp they started.
