It’s not for one instance. PieFed’s block list can only be edited by changing the source code. I’m more than in favor if giving instance owners control over their server. If said list was just a default, easily editable from the user (admin) interface, that would be OK. But as it is, it’s an attempt to exert control over other people’s servers, no ifs or buts about it.
It’s interesting that a developer thinks they have authority over other people’s instances, while using it to block authoritarian discourse (both right wing and m-l).

There’s not a lot to like and nothing to love other than the content itself.
I only wish their streaming app wasn’t dogshit bad. We need a standard streaming delivery app, allowing you to log in and get your content. And development costs are shared so smaller outlets don’t struggle to deliver a decent experience.

Humidity plays a big role. You can still cool down at 52 C if the air isn’t very humid (that is, when the wet bulb temperature is low enough). Wet bulb temperature is a particularly useful metric because it incorporates evaporative cooling in it. Sadly most thermometers can’t measure it.
I’ve been in 52 C heat (125 F) and it’s no joke, but you can still walk around, even in the sun, without exerting yourself too much.
I’ve also been in a room at 70 C (almost 160 F) for a few minutes and that was terrifying. The air is as if burning your insides, it’s absolutely unbearable. There is a world of difference between these two. I image 60 C for four hours would start killing people, particularly the elderly.
