Congress has been informally notified about the pending deal, most of which is to be paid for with foreign military financing — in which U.S. taxpayer dollars are given to Israel to turn around and buy the weapons from the United States.
I am beginning to think the Palestinians in Gaza are a doomed people, not unlike the native Indians in the USA in the 1800’s. Big picture thinking here. Not a tit-for-tat listing of atrocities and counter-atrocities, facts and counter-facts. Neighboring Arab states with ethnic, linguistic, historical and racial ties to the Palestinian Arabs living in the contested areas seem to want nothing to do with them, if you judge them by their deeds and not their empty words. Even their closest ethnic cousins in the region seem content to permit them to wither and die under the wind currents of international politics. An abandoned people. Ordinary morality is for the common people- individuals. At the levels of international powers, morality abides by different rules and laws. At that level the Palestinians have been fighting a losing battle for the last 80 years. Rightly or wrongly, that bill is finally coming due for many in the region.
The Arabs of the Palestine area who have been present on the land for millennia fought bravely against the Ottoman empire only to be double crossed by the British who had promised them dominion over the land of their fathers. They then had to endure waves of white European Jews coming to their land with laughably spurious claims to historic ownership. Against all odds the Palestinian people persist, they are far from the “doomed people” you would like them to be.
The real bill coming due is what will happen to little Israel when the world bully turns their back on them. If you think this is impossible check out the trend in public opinion polls, there is no way to wash the blood of so many innocent children from your hands, the stain on Israel is permanent.
I said Gaza is doomed. There will always be plenty of Palestinians just over the border in Jordan. Jewish claims to the land are no more specious than Palestinian claims. They too lived on the land for centuries, even in Ottoman times and before that. The Brits absolutely doubled crossed the whole Arab world during the mandatory period, aided by the French. In the climate of political indertiminacy and vagueness, the Jews saw their opportunity and declared independence before any agreement could be imposed on them. The 1947 UN partition agreement was not such a bad one, when you consider how unrpoductive and violent the past 80 years have been. But the matter has been settled by war (and Israeli military victory) repeatedly since then. If the current situation is based on ideals and beliefs of another era, well that is just what it is. Jews saw their very brief window of opportuninty in 1948 and they took it. They will not give the land back, just as the USA will not be giving all of its land back to the native Indians. Never happen. That fact has been settled for over a century now. Arabs and Israelis will need to learn to live together in peace. You cannot correct the wrongs of history. Those belong to the past and cannot be changed. It may take several more generations coming and going before both sides begin to realize this.
The Jewish claims to the land are absolutely specious when you look at the available data. In the late 1800s the Jewish population of Palestine was negligible, about 2-3%, maybe a couple of thousand people. The current Jewish population of the country are not of the land, they are all colonial settlers who came from Europe and other areas with the intention of taking the land for themselves. Take the leader, Benjamin netenyahu for instance, his real family surname is Mileikowsky, they are Polish people, his dad made up the name Netenyahu to sound like a local.
The Palestinians however have deep ties to the region going back thousands of years sharing DNA with bronze and iron age Canaanites from the region.
The 1947 UN agreement wasn’t a bad one for Israel, sure. They got over 55% of Palestine despite being colonial settlers fresh off the boat, free land for nothing. The Palestinian people had to give up the land of their ancestors that they had been continuously farming for thousands of years, wasn’t such a good deal for them.
You are correct, Israel will not give the land back, that is not how the world works, might is right and all that. Israel is a tiny country both in land mass and population. 8 million or so Jews surrounded by 100s of millions of Arabs and other Muslim states. The only thing holding back the tide is Israel’s relationship with the USA but this relationship is not set in stone. Look at the USA’s history and how they have treated their allies in the past, the USA will drop Israel like they did the rest of it is in their own self interest. Now in the USA being tied to Israel is political poison, same in Europe. Foreign policy will eventually have to align with public opinion if officials want to stay in office. The world does not need an Israel to exist any more than it needs any other country.
The Hamas-led attack on southern Israel in 2023 killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage. Israel’s offensive in Gaza to retaliate has killed more than 73,264 Palestinians, including those killed since the ceasefire, Gaza’s Health Ministry said.
Those citing the Hamas attack as ‘justification’ for the genocide in Gaza should be made aware of the sheer disproportionality of the response by Israel.
should be made aware of the sheer disproportionality of the response by Israel.
That’s just the bill finally coming due for the Palestinians for 80+ years of making the wrong political decisions at every turn. To maintain that the current attacks on Gaza have only to do with Oct 7 is childishly simplistic and ignores long history. But in the next sentence those sympathetic with the Palestinian cause will again cite “long history” so long as it only goes as far back as 1947. Ottoman times and the era of the British mandate are inconvenient for the Nakba narrative and its sycophants, globally and among the Palestinians.
The most recent Israeli operations in Gaza have been about neutralizing HAMAS and eliminating military threats to Israel emanating from Gaza, which have been chronic for the past 30+ years. Part of that involves destroying a vast tunnel network used for military (not civilian) purposes by paramilitary forces inside Gaza to attack Israel.
.
Well, ‘the most recent Israeli operations in Gaza have been about neutralizing HAMAS and eliminating military threats to Israel emanating from Gaza’ have caused the mass murder of 73,264 civilians - mostly babies and children - by ‘the most moral army in the world’.
Yes, HAMAS is a terrorist organisation.
SO IS THE IDF. A far larger one.
The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel examines violations and crimes against and affecting Palestinian children, including serious physical and psychological harm by the Israeli security forces since 7 October 2023 resulting in the death of at least 20,179 and injury of 44,143 children.
The paper describes the deliberate targeting and killing of Palestinian children, including post-ceasefire since the October 2025 Gaza peace plan. The Commission also examines a sharp increase in violence perpetrated by members of Israeli settlers against Palestinian children in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The Commission examines the use of torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, including sexual and gender-based violence, against Palestinian children, particularly during mass arrests and in detention. It analyses pattern of Israel’s targeting of critical infrastructure essential to children, such as healthcare facilities and its short- to long-term consequences, as well as the impact of reproductive violence on newborns, resulting in poor neonatal health and birthing outcomes; attacks on orphanages and schools, impacting the loss of care for orphans and unaccompanied children, and inducing academic harm and learning disruptions for children, respectively.
The Commission examines the impact of the conditions of life imposed by Israel in Gaza resulting in preventable mortality of children, exacerbating morbidity, and serious mental trauma from the relentless and widespread attacks by Israel over two years – collectively revealing severe, multi-layered harm to Palestinian children’s survival, health, and development. Further, the Commission examines how Israeli soldiers mock and weaponize symbols of childhood in Gaza, raising ethical, disciplinary and legal questions about the conduct of the Israeli security forces during the ground invasion of Gaza.
From the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel (PDF link).
Tell me, how does ‘torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, including sexual and gender-based violence, against Palestinian children, particularly during mass arrests and in detention’ accomplish ‘neutralizing HAMAS and eliminating military threats to Israel emanating from Gaza?’ How does ‘targeting of critical infrastructure essential to children, such as healthcare facilities?’
Nothing can justify such atrocities, so don’t even try.
Facts, counter-facts…

Not a war buddy, this is a one sided genocide. Speaking of truth and facts, it is Israel who are not letting journalists in to Gaza while systematically murdering the journalists who are on the ground there. Sounds like Israel is doing all it can to suppress the truth getting out…
Not interested in conspiracy theories or conspiracy thinking.
White supremacist settler colonies have to stick together.

The other side is not so different in their thinking either, to be honest.
2,000-pound bombs to drop on 20 pound kids.
How fucking cruel.
So this is effectively welfare for the arms industry. The US taxpayers must love guns a lot to finance giving them to foreigners.
Pork Barrel politics are nothing new in the USA.
There definitely aren’t enough of us who care enough to vote against the Democrats and Republicans who always make sure Israel gets their free WMD’s.
Is there any info on whether these are for Gaza / Lebanon or whether they’re intended to be dropped on Iran?
They are for dropping on children.
