This is how my grandmother would always catch me lying as a kid. I’d have a grin for any white lie I told and she’d immediately know I was lying. I could never figure it out until I was an adult and she told me her secret.

It’s actually your civic duty to develop an obsession, American or not. Because, remember, thats what activism is. Indeed how could we change anything by not feeding this black hole all of our collective mental energy?

Being well-informed doesn’t require immersing yourself in an endless stream of outrage, nor does stepping back from that mean you’re turning a blind eye to anything.

There’s a difference between ignoring reality and choosing how and when to engage with it. Most of what passes for political content online isn’t a sober presentation of facts or ideas - it’s performance, manufactured outrage, and algorithm-driven noise. If someone wants to stay sane and focus on things they can actually influence in their immediate life, I don’t see that as sticking their head in the sand. I see it as setting healhy boundaries in an environment that’s often designed to provoke rather than inform.

People aren’t morally obligated to be constantly exposed to negativity just to prove they care. In fact, thoughtful action tends to come from those who can step back from the noise and think clearly, not from those who are perpetually consumed by it.

I just choose how and when to engage with reality, and leave out the blocking; you do this to exert control, because you feel out of control.

It won’t work, your attempt at control is a temporary illusion, because you’re trying to control others instead of controlling yourself.

Your blocking announcement is meant as an affirmation of control, but it is actually an announcement of your own weakness.

… not that there’s anything wrong with that

There was some black line on his shoulder that looked like tape. That apparently made it look like he had a blood squib ready to go at a specific time. There was also a bomb that was seemingly placed on the microphone he used (weirdly enough, it was DJI). There was a camera that looked odd, though it was not a camera gun (I never thought of that), but allegedly a holographic projector, so the real Charlie would be able to go under a trapdoor that was on the stage.

That, and his mother was a “mental health expert” (there’s a reason why I put that in quotes).

I’ve seen arterial bleed out before. on top of that, conservatives couldn’t coordinate themselves out of a wet paper sack. the amount of planning and coordination a live event in front of hundreds, and streaming online to thousands more would have made this impossible to fake.

that bitch died on stage and is rotting in a hole six feet under.

You should also know that if you are trying to apply this to real life, that you should probably go to therapy instead. Most people are reasonably honest and reasonably kind, and the best way to read people’s minds is to just ask what they are thinking.

          Good question.

I think in the first instance it was the overly verbose answer to a social media post. That suggests you either have a bit of time on your hands or you have very few people to talk to.

Secondly, the hints of grandeur in your comment. Calling out Lemmy users as autists. Weird to do that on this platform, of which you are also on.

But mostly, it’s that you’ve misread the social contract here, and that’s wild as you go on to tell people how to read the situation.

And so my question was genuine. Are you ok, or is there something going on that you need to talk about?

I don’t disagree, but I stopped reading after that because this isn’t about “most people”, it’s about deceitful people and about trump. You wasted your time typing all of that irrelevant stuff for this post.

The thing with donald trump is that he WILL tell you just what kind of a person he is… and people will think he’s lying.

NGL, my first thought for the TV President is that this is just another staged event to rally support around him so as to bolster his sagging ratings… because ultimately it’s only about how liked he is.

          He’s Mr. Popularity after all.

              The more evidence the better.

A picture of Trump smiling isn’t evidence of anything. This might be the way he smiles when he shits himself. And if you want evidence that he is a con man, its not like you have to try very hard. This picture ain’t gonna sway a 3 time Trump supporter, lol. Just admit that you’re having an anti-Trump circlejerk, and I’ll lend you my hand. But acting like you’re outing him using pop psychology you heard about from your moms Readers Digest is top-tier smoothbrain. Gonna analyze his zodiac sign next?

When Hitler so successfully lied to Chamberlain concealing that he had already mobilized the German army to attack Poland, he asked for a time-out from their meeting. With his generals who had been witnessing his most successful lies, Hitler went into an anteroom, where he reportedly jumped up and down with joy, and then having reduced his duping delight, he returned to the meeting.
