Indeed. COVID showed that the populace would defer to the government and do as they were told. Before lockdown there was a general feeling that only a country like China could lockdown it’s population. In the west, freedom and liberty were too precious.
And then they went and locked us down showing the government had far more power than it realised.

I have been saying this for 20 years and it remains true. Everything only gets worse. So while today is the worst day in history, things are the best they will ever be again. I promise, with 100% certainty, that one day you will look back on the troubles of today with nostalgia at the innocence of our times. Pick any year you thought things were bad. Would you trade ANYTHING to be back there right now? That’s what ten years in the future feels like.

I can’t agree with you. I’ve lived through many periods of prosperity followed by moments of despair. This is only a winding turn on the rollercoaster, but there will be better days again. Just because the USA is doing some shit right now doesn’t mean the rest of the world isn’t thriving.
